Entry 1: Meet my friend
My friend's name is Sibongile Nkomonde, she 24 years of age, she is currently studying Communication Science: Media and Journalism here at the University of the Free State. Sibongile is a first at home, and followed by his yonger sister, we met in 2010 when we both started our degree at South Campus (Vista). Bongi started her primary school at Maokeng primary school until grade 8, she then went to Motswela Secondary school. She has a 7 year old son named Sandiswa who is in grade 1 at Brandwag primary school, she enjoys cooking and socializing and as well as spending with close friends and family. She has a great taste at fashion and her granny inspires her very much, she was once growned Miss Kroonstad in 2006. She is very attractive and such a lovely character, easy to get along with. she finished her matric in 2007 and got pregnant the same year, after matric she went to Tshwane University Of Technology) to study music theater till 2009 then she decided to come to UFS. She was raised by a single parent with the help of her grandparents, her mom is unemployed and her daddy died in 2004 while she was still young. she enjoys spending time reading newspapers and claims that she got her reading inspiration from BKO 314 module. I spend most of time with her at campus and we do a lot of studying and socializing together, she keeps me on my toes, I laugh a lot when I am around her, she is such a friendly character and I hope to extend our friendship even after we obtain our degree. We both graduating in September because we only came back for a few modules this semester.
Entry 2: Life on Campus
The latest event I attend was the graduation ceremony which was held here at campus last week, the specific graduation which I witnessed physically was the Wednesday afternoon ceremony. I attended this ceremony along with my close friend Jane, we wanted to see our fellow classmates graduating. Jane is currently studying B soc in psychology and is finishing this semester. She was also there to see her fellow classmates and to get some motivation. The ceremony started very well with words of motivation from the guest comedian Loyiso Gola and presenter of late night news with Loyiso Gola, he made funny jokes while motivating graduates and after that we were entertained with a lovely song from one of our Kovsie students. Parents and supporting family members were very happy to her the names of their children and it was an emotional time for others, we saw some tears of joy there and there and some guy got very happy when her sister's name was called and danced. Prof J.D Jansen's daughter was also graduating that day, and he took the stand when her daughter was called to grown her himself and even kissed her wooow (lovely). It was just great to sit there and see how parents support their children, lovely indeed and to see how disadvantaged individuals managed to come to campus with nothing but finally walking out with a degree. Pictures were taken after the ceremony outside Callie human hall, graduates were dressed up very nicely and fashionable, they all looked so lovely and happy.
Entry 3: My take on things
When president Jacob Zuma fired controversial Sicelo Shiceka who has since passed on for misusing public funds on unauthorized trips in 2011, the nation commended him for his decisive action. The president again proved that corruption had no place in his administration when he fired former National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele over the multimillion-rand lease of police headquarters in Pretoria
Now some of Zuma's ministers are in the news again for all the wrong reasons and critics are calling on the president top crack the whip once more. From the allegations of police brutality, the poor state education, controversial remarks and the deaths of soldiers deployed in a foreign country, it seems Zuma has a lot of mess to clean up in his cabinet.
President Zuma is under pressure to make changes in his indecisive when it comes to sacking ministers who are incompetent or involved in corruption. But with the firing of the former Police Commissioner and Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde, he showed he was capable of acting.
Given the latest developments, I wouldn't be surprised if the there's a cabinet reshuffle soon. This debate has been far expressed and Zuma has often poured cold water on suggestions that he is indecisive. He insists that any minister or government official found to be corrupt or not doing their job will face the consequences.
This issue worries because some of the incidents happening in South Africa put the country in a bad light internationally and now the ANC is at risk with the coming elections.

The trend that is popular in campus this year is White All stars, it is prefered by most girls in campus. All Star 'converse' which is also reffered to as ''Chuck Taylor' are canvas and rubber shoes produced by converse. they were first prodeced in 1917 as the ''All Star''. They are adorable, and can be worn by ladies and males, they come in all kinds of colours but the most beloved are white and black.
they may seem the least exciting footwear option you own, but they can totally transform just about any look. girls like to style converse with something that would be a littkle too girly with flats, sandals or other more ''ferminine'' shoes. dressed up they are a statement of independence, dressed down, they are the perfect touch to almost anything-skirts, dressed, skinny jeans or shorts. Without socks or with tights, at night or during the day, on the beach or at clubs, converse are a unifying shoe, everyone loves them.
How students feel about White All stars
Pamela Selemela
Studying Governance and political Science, well honestly i dont like it, maybe black or jean-blue. it depends from person to person ( preferences) for me, i dont like it because i dont like washing shoes more often, they get dirty more often. im a kasi ( location) girl so i like more darker shoes because there is alot of dust there, so its difficult for me to wear light shoes.
Lifa Setseke
Studying Economics, I love them and have two pairs, a half and a boot. they complement my style. i usually wear them when im wearing my jeans and short skirts. they give me a sense of belonging, i get very confident wearing them, my friends wear other colours like black meroon, blue and orange.
Jane Motaung
Physchology student, i preffer black All Stars , they comlpiment my style, White All Star are just too overrated, i feel there are lots of colours to choose from except for white. you believe it is a fad, after a few months people would have forgotten about it and following a new trend. so i prefer trends like Nike, Addidsa, and Lacosta.
